About Wintec Saddles: synthetic saddles since 1986

Wintec Saddles has always made riding easy and comfortable. Combining world-leading innovations and hi-tech materials in lightweight, weatherproof and easy-care saddles, it is easy to see why Wintec Saddles is the world's number one synthetic saddle brand. The range offers not only cutting edge designs, but new standards in fit, comfort and performance for both horse and rider.

The short version. Wintec Saddles has been making synthetic saddles since 1986 and is the world's number one synthetic saddle brand. Our saddles are weatherproof, easy-care and adjustable, so you can ride in any weather, hose them off afterwards and change the fit yourself as your horse changes shape. Wintec saddles are sold worldwide through a network of distributors, retailers and saddle fitters, with dedicated warehouses in England, the United States and Australia.

Who are Wintec Saddles?

We are the people who decided a saddle should not need an hour of care for every hour of riding.

Wintec Saddles brightly burst onto the riding scene in 1986 with an idea that was, at the time, close to heresy. That a saddle did not have to be leather. That it could be lighter, cheaper to look after, and completely unbothered by rain. Nearly forty years later we are the world's number one synthetic saddle brand, and the argument is largely over.

Today Wintec saddles are sold worldwide through a network of distributors, retailers and saddle fitters, supported by dedicated warehouses in England, the United States and Australia.

What makes a Wintec saddle different?

Four things, and they all come back to the same idea. Time spent on your horse rather than on your tack.

It is weatherproof. Rain, mud, a creek crossing, a summer storm. None of it is a reason to skip a ride or a reason to panic afterwards.

It is easy-care. No oiling, no waxing, no conditioning. Hose it off, hang it up, ride again tomorrow. Our care guide is genuinely short.

It is light. A WintecLite is less than half the weight of a traditional leather saddle. If you have ever wrestled a saddle onto a 16.2 hand horse at six in the morning, that number means something.

It adjusts. Horses change shape. Spring grass, a season of fitness work, a young one filling out. Most Wintec saddles can change with them.

What is HART?

Horse and Rider Technology. It is not one feature, it is five, and a saddle only earns the badge if it has all of them.

  • Protective cushioning: the CAIR Cushion System, air-filled panels that spread rider weight evenly and absorb impact
  • Precision custom fit: the EASY-CHANGE Fit Solution
  • Ergonomic flex: the Elastiflex Tree
  • Free movement: performance panel technology
  • Superior rider performance: comfort seat technology

The CAIR Cushion System is patented worldwide. Read more about HART.

Can I really adjust the saddle myself?

Yes, and this is the part riders tend not to believe until they have done it.

The EASY-CHANGE Gullet System lets you change the width of the tree by swapping a gullet plate. All you need is a screwdriver. The EASY-CHANGE Riser System adjusts inside the panel to fine-tune clearance, bearing and balance. Together they are the EASY-CHANGE Fit Solution.

It means one saddle can follow a young horse through his whole career, or move between two very different horses in the same paddock.

Who rides in a Wintec saddle?

Riders at every level, in every discipline, on every continent.

At the top of the sport, Isabell Werth, the most decorated equestrian of all time, worked with us on the Wintec Isabell Icon. In the United States we are the Official Saddle Sponsor of the United States Pony Club. And across the world our saddles are used and recommended by professional saddle fitters trained in the systems inside them.

Between those two points sit everyone else. Pony club riders on a first saddle. Endurance riders covering distances that would ruin leather. People who need tack that survives a working week rather than a weekend.

The range covers every discipline, conformation and budget, which is why a rider who starts on a Wintec 250 often ends up on a Wintec Pro years later.

Where can I buy a Wintec saddle?

Here, with free shipping and fast dispatch, or through our network of stockists and saddle fitters across Australia and worldwide.

We always recommend seeing a saddle in person if you can, and getting advice from a fitter you trust. Sitting in a few saddles will tell you more in twenty minutes than any amount of reading.

Browse the range: All Purpose, Dressage, Jump, Stock and Endurance, WintecLite, Kids and Pony, Wide and High Wither, Western and Exercise, or Clearance.

What happens after I buy?

We are still here. That is the short answer, and it matters more than most brands admit.

Spare parts, gullets, risers and servicing all run through your stockist, and we keep supporting saddles long after they leave us.

How do I get in touch?

Contact us and a real person will answer. If it is about a specific saddle, send your serial number typed out in full and photos of both sides, and we will tell you what we can.

You can also find us on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Go on, we dare you.
